Instructions for Authors

The Preclinical Studies Journal (PCS) welcomes the submission of original, high-quality manuscripts that advance knowledge in the preclinical and biomedical sciences. Authors are encouraged to read these instructions carefully before preparing and submitting a manuscript to ensure compliance with the journal's editorial, ethical, and technical requirements.

1. About the Journal

Before preparing a manuscript, authors are encouraged to review the About the Journal page for information regarding the journal's aims and scope, publication model, editorial structure, indexing, archiving, and other general information.

2. Before Preparing Your Manuscript

Before preparing your manuscript, please ensure that:

  • The study falls within the Aims and Scope of the Preclinical Studies Journal (PCS).
  • The research has been conducted in accordance with the journal's Ethics Policy, and all required ethical approvals have been obtained where applicable.
  • Appropriate reporting guidelines (e.g., ARRIVE, CONSORT, PRISMA, STROBE, or other relevant reporting guidelines) have been followed where applicable.
  • The manuscript has been prepared in clear, grammatically correct English using either American English or British English consistently throughout the text.
  • All authors meet the requirements of the journal's Authorship Policy and have agreed to the submission.
  • Funding sources, conflicts of interest, and other required declarations have been identified and will be disclosed in accordance with the journal's Policies.

PCS accepts the following manuscript types:

4. Before You Submit

Please ensure that the following requirements have been met before submitting your manuscript:

  • The manuscript is prepared using Microsoft Word and saved in DOCX (.docx) format.
  • The manuscript is formatted in a single-column layout using the official PCS manuscript Template.
  • The manuscript is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration by another journal.
  • The manuscript does not exceed 6,000 words (excluding references), unless prior approval has been obtained from the Editor-in-Chief. This limit applies only to the initial submission. Revised manuscripts submitted in response to reviewers' comments may exceed this limit.
  • Spelling, grammar, formatting, headings, tables, figures, and references have been carefully checked for accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • All authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript before submission.

5. Authorship

Authors must comply with the journal's Authorship Policy.

Before submission, please ensure that:

  • All authors have approved the final version of the manuscript.
  • One corresponding author has been designated.
  • The author list is complete and finalized before submission.

6. Required Submission Files

The following files should be uploaded during submission:

File Requirement Description
Main Manuscript Mandatory Anonymous manuscript prepared for double-blind peer review. Author names, affiliations, acknowledgements, and identifying information must not be included. Tables and figures should be editable and inserted in their appropriate positions.
Author Information File Mandatory Full names, affiliations, email addresses, ORCID iDs (recommended), and identification of the corresponding author.
Cover Letter If Required Submitted when requested by the Editor or required by the journal.
Similarity Report Recommended Similarity index below 20%, generated using Turnitin or equivalent software.
AI Writing Report Recommended AI writing report generated using Turnitin or an equivalent system.

7. Online Submission

All manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the journal's Open Journal Systems (OJS).

Authors should first register for an account and then log in to begin the online submission process.

Authors are encouraged to provide an ORCID iD to improve author identification and indexing.

The submission process consists of the following steps:

  1. Register and login to the journal's OJS platform.
  2. Start a new submission.
  3. Confirm compliance with the journal's submission requirements and publication policies.
  4. Enter the manuscript metadata.
  5. Upload the required files.
  6. Review all submission information.
  7. Confirm and complete the submission.

8. Before Submission Checklist

Before submitting your manuscript, please ensure that:

  • The manuscript is original and has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
  • The manuscript has been prepared using the official PCS Manuscript Template.
  • The manuscript complies with the formatting requirements described on the Manuscript Preparation page.
  • All tables and figures are complete, editable, and correctly cited.
  • References are accurate and formatted according to the journal requirements.
  • All authors have approved the submission.
  • Ethical approval has been obtained where applicable in accordance with the Research Ethics Policy.
  • Funding sources, conflicts of interest, and other required declarations have been disclosed in accordance with the Journal Policies.
